Ever wonder where the professionals who plan, setup and dismantle trade show exhibits receive their specialized training?
Up until now, there has been no formal venue, no single place where they could go to learn the myriad of skills that they need – skills ranging from carpentry and wiring to logistics, drayage, ordering services, and working with various unions. That is until now. Now there's Willwork University.
Willwork University is a first-of-its-kind endeavor, designed specifically for tradesmen and other individuals who desire to work in the trade show industry as an apprentice, foreman, or master foreman. It's the place where Willwork, Inc., one of the industry's leading exhibit services companies, trained its own people for years – perhaps that's why the company has earned the reputation for producing the highest caliber lead foreman. Willwork U, in fact, was originally created to formalize the training program for Willwork, Inc. employees. However, the more people that the company ran through the program and the more people found out about Willwork U through the grapevine, the more evident it became that this university approach could be a valuable resource for the entire industry. So Willwork University was formally launched in 2001, open to anyone who wanted to attend.
Willwork U features a unique blend of classroom, shop floor, and exhibit floor instruction. It is staffed by Willwork, Inc. senior personnel, as well as visiting professors from leading vendors and organizations all across the country.
The trade show and exhibits industry is about much more than logistics and technical know-how. It’s about people. That’s why Willwork U instills in its students not only a high degree of technical training, but also a deep commitment to customer service. The role-playing of real-life situations on the trade show floor imparts students with the ability to think on their feet, anticipate & head off potential problems and be creative in developing solutions. Further, it instills in them the realization that treating everyone with courtesy and respect goes a long way. That is just one of the reasons that Willwork University students emerge from their formal training a cut above the rest.
